I thought of going with 2x 980 ti as prices have come down, but since the 5770 and the 980 ti generally perform the same when used alone I'm not sure it would be worth it to try. Using both graphics cards together gets me so close! It shows it playing as 24fps but it is dropping a lot of frames and not quite there to make resolve an editor, but enough for color corrections. Once I go with 2x graphics cards I have to move the ssd to the x4 slot. I have the clips on a 16tb raid spread over the 4 3.5' bays as a project drive and scratch disk. I have a OWC ssd usually in the 2nd x16 slot with the 980 ti in the first.
I did try both the 5770 and the 980 ti together with the 5770 running the monitor.
